Start off the New Year by improving your mind, body and community advocacy efforts. While attending our annual women’s conference you can choose 3 training sessions that will help you jumpstart your health, advocacy and community engagement goals. Along with a great list of speakers and topics during the conference attendees will be provided lunch and resource packets from community organizations in attendance.

2017 Conference Session Information

SESSION 1 CHOICES:

Educating Our Community – Join Sally Carter Founder of Tap In Leadership Academy as she discusses the importance of educating the youth in our community and helping them achieve their educational goals. Sally will also discuss how she came up with the concept for Tap In Leadership Academy and how members of the community can help youths be all they can be.

R.A.C.E.S- Join the Rape Advocacy, Counseling & Education Services organization to learn more about what services they provide in the community and how the Illinois  budget is affecting the organization as a whole. There are many women in the community that utilize this organization let’s learn all we can to help keep their doors open.

SESSION 2 CHOICES:

Behavioral Health and Awareness- There may be a time when we have a friend and/or family member who is having a mental health or substance abuse crisis and we are not sure which way to turn. Allen Creamean Director of Assessments at The Pavilion Hospital will be giving our seminar attendees an overview of common mental health diagnoses and addiction services; and then will provide information on how to access these services.

Image Consulting/Presentation Skills- WCIA News Anchor Cynthia Bruno will teach you how to reach the next level. Learn how colors can influence what people think of you, and which clothes work best for your body and why.  Along with image consulting Cynthia will give you tips on how to ace your next presentation and/or meeting.

Social Unjust- In the ever changing world NAACP President Patricia Avery will give our conference attendees advocacy tips for standing up for social injustices that are occurring in our community. Patricia will also be informing the group of what organizations and resources are available for those in need of assistance.

SESSION 3 CHOICES:

Becoming an Informed Voter- Learn how a bill becomes a law and basic legislative process from The League of Women Voters. The League of Women Voters will be educating women on why our vote matters and how we can change a community just by being an informed and active citizen.

Image Consulting/Presentation Skills- WCIA News Anchor Cynthia Bruno will teach you how to reach the next level. Learn how colors can influence what people think of you, and which clothes work best for your body and why.  Along with image consulting Cynthia will give you tips on how to ace your next presentation and/or meeting.

Nutrition and Wellness- Are you ready to kick your New Year’s off to a great start? If so join Melanie Pridemore health and wellness coach as she gives great tips on how you can be a healthier you for the 2017 year. Melanie will be giving great advice on diet, nutrition and how to be an overall healthier, happier woman.
