Junior League of Champaign-Urbana, Women building better communities

Done in a Day

Done in a Day (DIAD) provides short term or immediate volunteer assistance for community projects not administered by Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. JLCU members volunteer for numerous local, non-profit organizations who have requested assistance, with an emphasis on helping women and children in the community.

Through our DIADs, JLCU volunteers have assisted with a variety of community needs including: WILL Share-A-Story event, Safe Kids Coalition Project, a clean-up day at A Woman's Place, Carle Hospice’s Camp Healing Heart, the U of I College of Education’s Youth Literature Festival, a Habitat for Humanity home build, and brochure delivery for the Crisis Nursery.

We also organize Done In A Meeting (DIAM) collections. A DIAM gives our membership an opportunity to donate items to organizations in need. Examples of past collections include: collecting emergency clothing for the Champaign-Urbana public schools, mittens and hats for Head Start, personal hygiene items for Coalition for Community Kids in Care, and used cell phones on behalf of Special Olympics.
